About
I’m a native Tennessean who grew up in Kingsport and have been a fan of Tennessee men’s basketball for nearly 40 years.
I remember vividly one evening as a young child when a man wearing an orange blazer by the name of Ray Mears stopped by my house on his way to a recruiting visit. I have been hooked ever since.
My parents had season tickets as I was growing up, and I witnessed first hand the glory years of Mears and the Ernie and Bernie show.
I later graduated from UT with a degree in journalism and covered both the men’s and women’s basketball teams while in school.
Since then, I have gone on to a career in marketing, but my passion for reporting and writing, as well as UT basketball, has always remained strong.
Growing up, I also played basketball competitively, so I believe I know the game pretty well.
It is my intent with this blog about Tennessee men’s basketball to combine my basketball knowledge and journalism background to give fans insights and analysis about the team and the program that go beyond the box score. I want to give readers the ‘why’ and not just the what.
My hope is that you will enjoy this blog as much as I am developing it.
And I want to hear from you as well. Share your thoughts and views about the team with me as well as others.
Let’s all enjoy the rebirth of UT basketball!
Yours in Vol Hoops,
Tom Wilson
